The new Bond is cool!

In fact it’s probably the best James Bond movie yet! The wrinlkleys out there must accept the fact that Connery, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and others have had their turn and are now history. Their age has passed. We now have a new Bond…and a new kind of Bond picture!

The synopsis tells you most of what the story is all about; though this one could well be sub-titled “James Bond meets the Cincinnati Kid” – as it features an epic card game very reminiscent of the Norman Jewson classic of 1965 that featured Steve McQueen. In fact, Daniel Craig is not unlike McQueen in many respects. Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) is a kind of business executive’s idea of what a modern Bond girl should be like, though Mads Michelsen is perfect as “La Chiffre” – a more typical villain of the genre. And of course Dame Jude Dench, as “M,” steals every scene in which she appears.

This is the third screen outing for “Casino Royale.” The first was a black-and-white pre-Dr No offering, in which the hero was one “Jim” Bond! The second one we won’t even talk about.

The action in this one? Unbeatable!
