Reactivated under the Prime Minister’s secret orders, Section 9 hunts for Takashi Shimamura, a suspected post-human. During this mission, Togusa mysteriously disappears, prompting Motoko Kusanagi and her team to travel to a ruined Tokyo.
There, they confront the N refugee group and an American intervention unit. As a hijacked nuclear submarine threatens to spark a global conflict, the clash between Section 9, American forces, and the post-humans.
